things. via moda operandi.

June 4, 2013

there are just all these things.  it’s not that i deserve them.  but i would so appreciate these things.  i would make them proud and do them justice and love them until forever.  i would look at the tattered and stained charmeuse hem and remember a summer night spent kicking up my heels and flitting around the city.  a twinkle would flash through my eyes as i gaze at the smudged soles and think back to the evening of strolling through d.c.’s famous circles, landing at some newly-opened restaurant for tapas or maybe a plate of rustic homemade pasta along the reemerging 14th street corridor.  i’d reminisce about the time i walked home barefoot after dancing too late into the night, carrying my not-so-dancing shoes in hand with my cocktail clutch.  they are just things.  beautiful, glorious, superfluous material things.  but the memories – the twinkle – would be worth so much more than their designer price tags.
