every month i break out into hives and the first day of each new calendar page makes me want to scream and cry.  living in dc is expensive, nay, ultra-expensive.  i’m sweating right now just typing those words.  so imagine my elation and jealousy when i read this piece about the typical american home.  i am elated because, according to this article, i may actually be able to afford to live on my own one day.  i’m jealous because that day could be today if i didn’t live in dc.

guess this is what being an adult is all about.  choices.  bad ones, good ones, and the whole lot in between.

this is what the typical american home looks like now:

estimated cost: $927 per month

bedrooms: 3

bathrooms: 2+

size: 1,800 square feet

parking: garage
