battle of the budget
i buy a lot of stuff. today alone i spent money on…
$4.95 on a sparkly blue gift bag to present the chocolate chip cookies i baked for the headmaster
$2.19 on a dozen eggs for aforementioned cookies
$3.99 on a tin can ‘o soup, otherwise known as dinner
$3.29 on a pound of pretzels (the redskins version no less, bah humbug)
$7.98 on two bags of semi-sweet chocolate chips for my face the cookies
$14.95 on another starbuck’s travel mug because one just isn’t enough
$79.99 on vegan leather leggings (actually i profited $35 on this transaction as it was an exchange. i win)
that’s a total of $117.34 (minus the profit from the leggings exchange) for a couple cookies and a pair of plastic pants. good stuff, all of it. but completely and wildly unnecessary. and yet, this isn’t unusual. i own a closet full of unnecessary. piles of good stuff that serves no real purpose. and while chocolate chip cookies are far from wasteful, especially as a thank you present, they are a blow to the pocketbook. so this brings me to a little challenge…
can i, jenny “toll house is taking a toll on my budget,” go a week without shopping? well, we’re about to find out. join me tomorrow in my battle of the budget.
I see the problem…The $14.95 Starbucks mug. The way I see it, you could have bought tortilla chips for $3.99, a jar of Nacho cheese sauce for $2.99, a liter of Root Beer for $1.09, 6 chicken wings for $4.99, scream Yummmmy and put $1.50 in savings. Rock on….Go Packers…—Notorious
Oh I’ve played this game before…good luck my dear! I can’t wait to hear all about it! P.S. chocolate chips are always a wise use of $$ – don’t let anyone tell you otherwise.
i’m only going for a week. and then…rockstud!
