“orange” blinked at me from the bumper of a buzzing metro car as i passed under a bridge somewhere between home and work.  “dc west” and “state department” headed east on 66 side by side, like two cowboys riding toward the sunlight, and another work day in the capital.  the “dc all stops” bus was just a few miles behind.  there was no sign of “mcpherson square” or “14th street” this morning.  and i know for a fact “pentagon” was speeding.  my friend in the silver jeep wrangler with the wisconsin plates must’ve hit snooze because he didn’t make the right turn onto k at 7:03 a.m. like usual.    and i always hit the yellow at 18th.

“good morning” flashes the “navy yard” bus sign as it heads into the city.  we all have places to be.  we all have our routine, our commute, our coffee in hand.  we all have a reason to be on the road at 7:03 a.m.  and now, we’ll all have good mornings.

I remember those commute neighbors. That’s real cute!
